About

Born and raised in Colorado, Gabriel Chapel is a graduate student in Creative Technologies and Design at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he is exploring creative opportunities in engineering. He completed a concurrent bachelors/masters degree program in mechanical engineering in the Summer of 2018, where he obtained a minor in electrical engineering and focused his graduate studies in systems and controls. Gabe finished the credit requirements with courses, such as Computer Vision and Optimal Design, that encouraged him to get exposed to more software applications. The creative aspects of Mobile App Development and Front-End Web development sparked Gabe’s interest, so he extended his education for two more years through the Creative Technologies and Design program.

An enthusiasm for hardware design and fabrication never faded for Gabe. He continues to work as an engineer in the Donaldson Lab at CU, designing, developing, and testing systems for behavioral studies. His passion for music also drives him to try to design tools to improve musicians’ practice and performance efforts, inspiring him to pursue product design and the world of engineering design consulting. Through courses, such as Design for Manufacturability, Finite Element Analysis, and Advanced Product Design, Gabe has developed a stronger engineering and creative background through his recent education and is seeking a challenging opportunity to apply his multidisciplinary skills.
